Compositrice, Musicienne, Improvisatrice    

    Inspirée des reflets argentés de l'océan Atlantique, tout en chantant enregistreur à la main... c'est ainsi que Julia Hanadi Al abed deviendra adepte de l'écriture acousmatique et s'attachera à l'enregistrement de terrain. Là où la Voix, les Field recordings, les Corps sonores composent l'essence de ses créations, s'y mêlent les modes de jeux possibles par le biais de technologies lo-­fi ou hi­-tech. En concert, ce sont aussi les jeux de rétro-actions sonores et autres dispositifs électriques qui tracent le sillon de l'écoute, déclinant différentes facettes d'une pratique musicale électronique.

    Diplômée du Conservatoire de Bordeaux en Composition électroacoustique, elle fut longtemps artiste associée au Studio de Création et de Recherche en Informatique et Musiques Expérimentales à l'Université de Bordeaux, où elle y approfondit son travail du son dans sa dimension spatialisée, et l'approche artistique des dispositifs de sons fixés sous forme d'installation.

    Sur scène, on la retrouve aussi bien en performance solo qu'en collaboration (improvisatrice avec Mathias Pontevia, Jean Marc Reilla, interprète avec l'Ensemble UN...) ; ses pièce de musique concrète ont été jouées en France (Radio France, INA-GRM, IMEB...) ainsi qu'à l'étranger (Los Angeles, Genève, Brême, Bergen...) 

Les Potagers Natures, Presque Tout, La République des Granges, Absence of Wax, ALaMuse, FrameworkRadio, Fair Play ou encore Tsuku Boshi comptent parmi les labels ayant publiés sa musique.

Composer, Musician, Improviser

    Julia Hanadi Al Abed first engaged in acousmatic writing and field recording while walking, improvising, and wandering on the Atlantic coast with a recorder in hand. Since then, tracing voices, making use of environmental recordings and recording various sonic bodies have become the essence of her work. Particularly when performing live, she also makes use of both lo- and hi-tech devices, and experiments with sonic feedback and a vast array of electrical devices, thereby deploying different facets of an electronic music practice and mapping various paths for the act of listening.

    After graduating in Electroacoustic Composition from the Bordeaux Conservatory, she currently is an associate artist at the Studio de Création et de Recherche en Informatique et Musiques Expérimentales at the University of Bordeaux, where she deepens her work on the spatial dimensions of sound and her approach to the use of sound devices in installation form.

    Being an acousmatic and live performer fulfills her desire of accurate listening, for sound is moving all around, and becomes instrumental.
    Her music is intimate and poetic as well as wrinkled and sharp, and may also relates to the blurring line of sensation of time and its elasticity.
